As a Canadian who travels frequently to the US I tend to accumulate a lot of loose change. American retailers are particularly fussy about accepting change and banks won;t touch the stuff. So how do I deal with the bag of change?
During a recent extended stay in Hawaii Safeway was the store of choice for items I could not buy at Costco. I noticed in the self check out that there was a coin slot. Sure enough I fed my baggie of coins in on my next visit and they were accepted. No moans from ticked off cashiers and no 11% service charge from the n store coin counters!
